THE DeGRAY
PROPERTY
A chemical-free lawn & landscape plan for a 5-acre estate at
19814 Gunn Highway, Odessa, FL 33556
A ~5-ACRE ESTATE WITH REAL CHARACTER
Full property boundary — 19814 Gunn Hwy, Odessa, FL 33556
The DeGray property is a mature 5-acre estate with a formal oak-lined driveway, a lakefront with native Live Oak hammock, a kidney pool and sand beach area, formal landscape beds surrounding the home, a dog kennel compound, and generous pasture-style perimeter screening.
Our plan is built around Ali's vision for a chemical-free, natural, Florida-forward landscape — polished where it matters, natural where it belongs, and never over-manicured.
From day one through final walkthrough, American Edge is your single point of contact for every phase, every line item, and every result.

GUNN HWY DRIVE, SOUTH FENCE & ENTRANCE
The first-impression zone. Shape the entrance cedars so the gate operates cleanly, remove the FL-Category-I-invasive Asparagus Fern at the cedar base, lift the Live Oak allée for safe vehicle clearance, and structurally prune the young south-fence Crepe Myrtles with proper mulch rings.
Phase 3 scope area — Gunn Hwy roadside, entrance gate, Live Oak allée, and south fence crepe myrtle line
The Asparagus Fern at the base of your entrance cedars is a FL Invasive Species Council Category I invasive — it spreads aggressively through bird-dispersed berries and tuberous roots. Proper removal means digging out the tubers, not just cutting the tops. We'll bag the material for responsible disposal, protecting your native oak understory and preventing spread to the adjacent 200-acre farm.

LAKEFRONT & ALL REMAINING OAKS
The west-side lake-edge oaks plus every remaining property oak we haven't touched. Modest skirt lifts (4-6 ft only) to open sightlines & clear ground, deadwood removal for tree health, selective Spanish moss thinning only where it's weighting a limb. Natural, pastoral, tended — never over-manicured.
Phase 4 scope area — west lakefront zone plus every mature oak across the property (marked)
Selective pruning performed to preserve the mature oak canopy character while improving ground clearance and sightlines. No uniform crown shaping, no high-canopy work, no topping, no lollipopping — just the right amount of care to let your Florida oak hammock breathe and read as a loved, tended landscape.

NATURAL MULCH OPTIONS FOR FLORIDA
No dyes, no synthetic colorants, no chemicals. All four options below are 100% natural, Florida-appropriate, and sold at our cost + delivery fee — no markup. Total property requirement: approximately 24 cubic yards across all phases.
Light golden-brown, FL-sourced, naturally insect-repellent. The classic Florida mulch look.
Deep rich brown-black, makes colorful plants pop. Our recommendation for formal beds.
Light airy natural needle look. Perfect for natural zones & around trees.
Made from invasive Melaleuca trees cleared from the Everglades. Buying it supports restoration.
A combination approach: Natural Pine Bark for formal beds around the house and front entry (dark, rich, makes colors pop), and Pine Straw for the natural lake-edge tree rings and perimeter areas (lighter, more natural look that fits Ali's pastoral vision).
Mulch is billed separately at our cost + delivery fee, no markup. Once you choose your mulch, we'll get live quotes from our local suppliers and confirm the final number with you in writing before we order a single yard.
